Meet Sydney (the “Syd” in Syd Bakes Travels)

I am a bilingual (EN/FR) travel, language, and lifestyle journalist whose work has appeared in numerous digital and print publications including Fodor’s Travel, Good Housekeeping, Trending Northwest, TimeOut, Business Insider, and more. My work focuses heavily on outdoors destinations and activities, the culture and history of places (particularly the sociolinguistic aspect), and coffee/cafe scenes!

All of my published clips can be found here.

As born and raised in Seattleite, she recently relocated to Vermont and has also lived in Sydney, Montréal, Luxembourg, Montélimar (FR), and Paris. Her travels have taken her to 28 countries (and counting) where nature, hiking, and sampling (and judging) the espresso and cafe culture are priorities.

I offer guidebook drafting, editing, and updating services for destinations that I’m deeply familiar with and have spent time living in or frequently visiting.

I regularly update the Time Out and Fodor’s digital guides to Seattle, contribute heavily to Trending Northwest’s Seattle/west of the Cascades content, and frequently pen thoughtful pieces on both Canada and France.
